Climate Change Action Group

The Parish Council's Climate Change Working Group consists of members of the Parish Council and also several interested residents.  The Terms of reference can be found here.

The Group is called Greener Holbrook, Greener World (GHGW) and they are working on an action plan with several events in the pipeline.

Meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at Holbrook Methodist Church, starting at 7.00 p.m.  You would be very welcome to join us and share any ideas you have.

Below is a list of recent  events:  

Saturday 7th October: 10am-noon:  Shoreline litter pick at Holbrook Creek 

Friday 20th October: 7.30pm An East Anglian Story - the influence of geology, history and climate on our present-day wildlife and climate - Dr Chris Gibson. 

Thursday 26th October: 2-4.30pm  ‘Climaration’ – a fun workshop for families exploring climate issues – Holbrook Bowls Pavilion 

Saturday 28th October:  10-13.00   Energy Event – Babergh District Council’s energy information event – Methodist Chapel

Friday 3rd November: Anglian Water: the way forward.   7.30pm   Joint event with Holbrook Society

Friday 16th February - 7.30 p.m. at The Village Hall  "FAST FASHION AND GREENWASHING" - a joint event with Holbrook Society.

Saturday 30th March 2024 - 2.00 - 4.00 p.m. on The Reade Field.  "HEDGEHOG HOORAY" An enjoyable event for all the family.

Water Quality – volunteer testers have been regularly testing the river waters at Holbrook, Harkstead, Woolverstone, Chelmondiston and Shotley and will continue to check for E-Coli until the end of September 2024, when additional funding will be sought to continue into next year.

Also keep an eye out for GHGW top tips which will be posted on the Parish Council noticeboard from time to time.
